5 Cybersecurity Updates for Our Clients

Scammers continue to be more sophisticated in their approaches, which means we all need to stay vigilant and proactive. To that end, I want to share the following five important cybersecurity updates with you.

Current Scam Alert- Scammers Promise Social Security Statements to Lure Unsuspecting Consumers. In a troubling new trend, imposters are sending emails that appear to come from the Social Security Administration, offering people copies of their Social Security statements if they click on an attached link. Don’t click the link! If you do, scammers may capture information that is stored on your computer. Read more here.

Sign Up for a Free EverSafe Account. EverSafe is a terrific alert that shields you and your loved ones from financial fraud. It’s easy and we offer it complimentary to our clients. Don’t Give Out Your Personal Information. In general, don’t provide your personal information to someone you don’t know, especially over the phone or through email. For our clients specifically, please note that Raymond James will never reach out to you regarding fraudulent charges; they contact us first. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from Raymond James, you should hang up and call our office. For our clients who have any questions regarding the validity of a communication, reach out to me.

Limit What You Share Over Email and Text. For the safety and security of your account, please do not send sensitive information like account numbers, Social Security Number, credit card information, etc. over email. For our clients, we can collect that information over the phone or you may click here to securely upload files.
