Fine Art: Soaring With Strength
For this year's 5th World Parkinson's Congress in Kyoto, Japan, all members of the Parkinson's Disease community were invited to create a dance or movement piece inspired by the origami cranes in the art installation "Soaring With Hope".
Katie Elliott, our friend and Boulder-based 3rd Law Dance/Theater artistic director, worked with members of the local Parkinson's community to choreograph the performance below.
"So lovely," Katie said of watching the dancers' movements and hopes soar. "It was a special day."
The submission was compiled into a single, continuous video to be shown at the World Parkinson's Congress.
According to the Parkinson's Foundation, more and more studies are finding that regular physical activity offers therapeutic effects for people living with Parkinson's.
"Proof!" Katie said. "Movement is a good idea."
